THERMOQUAD! It’s the only carburetor that punishes you for going to wide-open throttle, and the world’s most comedic four-barrel. Now, it’s also a DF t-shirt you can wear to show your love or distain (you decide) for this cult-classic implement of fuel delivery!

My cry of “Thermoquad!” began in the ‘80s — long before I made the Thermoquad the butt of all jokes on video — back when we’d hunt speed parts in the junkyard. The Carter Thermoquad is a spread-bore four-barrel that was introduced in 1971 and used through the early ‘80s mostly on Mopar cars and trucks. They had CFM ratings of 850 and 1,000, and were available in performance or smog-friendly configurations, but the claim to fame was the main body made of phenolic resin — plastic!
